Caring For Your Cashmere

Cashmere is easy to care for, but please treat it gently. It doesn’t need to be dry cleaned––in fact dry cleaning can ruin cashmere—and, you don’t need to use any harsh cleaning products like Woolite. Since cashmere is actually hair, treat it as you would your own hair. Wash the item by hand with shampoo or a mild soap like Dove––not detergent––in lukewarm water. Rinse it well. Don’t wring it out or twist or stretch it. To dry, place the item on a towel or between two towels, role it up, and pat gently to remove excess water. Then lay it flat, blocking it to the right shape, to air dry––don’t use a clothes dryer. To finish cleaning your cashmere, simply touch up lightly with an iron.
